Oh No another Purple Christmas card LOL, a little family fun and Mad for Markers Copic School

Hi all, Continuing our 'non traditional Copic Colouring Christmas Creatlion' over at Mad for Markers I have used this cutie Magnolia snowman to create another purple Christmas card.  Added kindyglitz to him and the snowflake paper.  Part ribbon bow, (sorry photo not to clever, this ribbon is a gorgeous purple with sparkly purple trim edging) added purple rhinestones.  I just had to use my Tim Holtz on the edge snow flurries on glitter card again.

A close up to show some of the sparkle

Personal Stuff for those who are interested

This weekend took time away from the computer, the boys went to the factory after shopping at Laverton Market to get some of the pieces needed to make Morgan's Bike Trailer, my little fella is so chuffed with himself, this is so he carry his little friends on.

He can go round in circles to

He hopes to put a post on his blog soon.  Now the boys made better progress than us girls.  But in all fairness we had food shopping, washing, cleaning, weeding etc (or I did most of it lol), you know what it is like, put the washing out and then see a weed or two before you know it an hour has gone lol!  It was really good to chill out together especially as Rosanna picked up a sore throat and head cold.  Feeling much better today.

We had a trip to Spotlight to get some more plastic canvas for our canvas bags we are cross stitching as we mess up on the cutting out lol!  This is how far we have got!

Sunday we started our latch hook projects (last years Xmas Pressies), Rosanna is making a Rudolph cushion and I am trying to make a snowman, never done this before took forever to cut out the canvas and have not mastered how to use the latch hook yet.

Reaching 32 degrees today and tomorrow with a thunderstorm due, sounds like crafting weather to me lol!  Let's hope DH thinks so too.  Off to the factory now, catch up with you all later.

Thanks for visiting, hope you are all well, happy crafting, take careX:)

Christmas Decoration for our Mad for Markers Challenge

Hi all

First, blog hop post below and not to blow our own trumpets lol!  But the girls made some AMAZING creations, I was so excited too, my first ever hop which I have been part of, though it was late last night before I got hopping, don't forget the hop is open till Sunday.

Back to today's post, carrying on our challenge Anything but a Card I Thought I would make another Christmas Icing Decoration, (I made some last year with the idea from the 1st Magnolia Ink Magazine), they really do keep, I have two purples ones still hanging up.  Think they make beautiful gifts.  I have used Tilda unwrapped and of course coloured her using my copics.  The ribbon says Merry Christmas, I did try adding bows, charms etc but decided to keep it simple.

Spica has been added to her hair, ribbon in her hair and red wrapping paper.

Copics

0, C00, C1, BV11, BV13, E000, E00, E02, E11, E35, E50, E51, E53, R24, R27, Spica Pens Lavender, Gold & Red

Just a reminder Sammi over at the Mad for Markers Store can cater for all your copic requirements, as well as markers, there are various sticky tapes, Xpress Blend It Paper, masking paper etc. and new to the store Flourish with bling embellishments.  Posting to New Zealand and Australia. .  Also check out our new challenge blog each day for more wonderful inspiration from the DT and for our current challenge Anything but a Card.  We so look forward to visiting your space in blog land to see your wonderful creations.

On a personal note, we had a fantastic time yesterday in the Dandenong area, visiting The National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda, which included a half hour bus tour ride, stunning flowers, gorgeous scenery and it was Free entry.  Then onto The Big Bouquet (now in the proud possession of a gerbera plant and flowers (don't often buy cut flowers but couldn't resist these, only $7 for 20 stems, bargain!), there are over 62,000 plants under one roof, then visited a stonefruit orchard covering 40 acres, we are going to go back in January when there is lots of fruit to pick.  Weather was just perfect a little damp to start off with felt like being back home in the Lake District, especially since I got to wear my walking coat I bought there, not had too many outings over here lol! Not sure what the plan is for today, everyone is still in bed!

For those in Melbourne having a fantastic day off, lets hope we don't get as much rain as predicted, we already have plenty of water standing in the garden lol!

Decorated the tree using some rhinestones and stickles and some mini tree baubles on string.

My First Tent card

Hi all,

Thought I would have a go at a tent card, I have just made my first tutorial on colouring snow for Mad for Markers and this cutie is the result and I just pictured him in my head peering through a snowflake, had help here Rosanna she got her origami out for me and I traced around one of her snowflakes and then cut it out. I have heated embossed the snow/snowflakes using my SU Stamp Set (one of my favs) onto SU elegant eggpant card. I did try putting some embossed snowflakes on and ribbon but it looked too much so stuck with a metal plate that says ho ho ho and snowflake charm. I have used a heart shape eyelet to hang him from.
There is special effects for the bells, eyes and nose. For ear muffs and fur trim I have used Crushed Velvet Lilac Flock. I have distressed around the edge of the snowflake to try to make it look fluffy.

Snow Tutorial for Mad for Markers

Hi all, this is my first tutorial ever an it is for Mad for Markers, firstly I am not Copic Certified, this is just how I love to colour snow images! Copic colours needed are C1, C3 & BG10 (available from Sammi at Mad for Markers Store.

Is this just the cutest snowman from Magnolia, stamped using Momento Ink

First I use C3 to colour shaded, creased areas or where I feel the light would highlight the snow. This is only a very thin line or lightly touching to dot the area.

Secondly I use C1 and lightly feather blend or dot where I have used C3, then I use the C1 to lightly colour odd places, this image is perfect as there are dots which give you a guideline where colour is needed.

Finally I use BG10 and lightly blend into the C1 & c3 to get this effect. I have TGF snowmen which are much smaller and found it better to only use the C1 and BG10.

Finally I coloured the rest of him, and this is how he looks. Added Special effects and some Crushed Velvet Lilac Flock to his ear muffs and fur trim

and made my first ever tent card, I heat embossed the snowflakes, cardstock is elegant eggplant
I don't feel I have said to much lol! So please if I haven't explained something properly please le me know.

Copics Used (available from Mad for Markers)
C1, C3, BG10
G28, E99, FV2, R89, V12, V17, YG67, YR04, YR23, YR31

Thanks for visiting, be sure to pop back tommorow to see what gorgeous creation Emma has to show you and each day to see our other DT's amazing creations.

Fantastic News Guest DT for a week & Challenges

Hi all, Finally come down off the ceiling, one of my ambitions this year is try and achieve a DT position (got 11.5 months), not an easy achievement considering all that fantastic talent out there. Anyway Doodle Palace have asked me to be Guest Designer in a couple of weeks (my card won their challenge random.org). Then at work took a sneek peak at my blog and found I have 35 talented followers a following little old me, so you can imagine the grin on my face, Morgan said he didn't know I could skip!! LOL!! Anyway enough waffle.
This card has been created with one or two challenges in mind and has been possible because of my lovely friend Debbie P at stamp camp we exchanged swaps (she has one awesome collection of Magnolias) and she let us all have the use of her cuttlebug inc embossing folders and cutters, so needless to say I am topped up with Snowflakes until I get my own, which hopefully won't be too long. Thanks Debbie.
Materials used

Touchmarker/copics to colour (still practicing)

3D Kindyglitz puff white then coated in powder fluff for the trims,
Then I had to go to the craft shop to buy something new (what a shame LOL) so I bought 3D Kindyglitz GLT Lilac for her wings, also bought Crackle accents, which you will see my disaster at the end, also bought some chipboard birds to colour like a robin, then found the Magnolia bird, possible could be a duck, but it's Christmas and he is in fancy dress as a robin LOL! As you English people will know there are often Robins around when it is snowing.

Special effects for her cheeks and boots

Magnolia DSP Papers - Kellie's Magnolia Store

Ribbon and tag Kaisercraft
brad, threads - my stash

Now for the tricky bit, I cut around her thumb on her mitten so I could place the thread under so it looks like she is holding it

I have torn in various places and stitched it up as a repair, also knotted the potential rope as a repair too, so hopefully this should qualify for Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge seeing as my tag was a disaster.

I have turned this card into an 84th Birthday card for our children's Great Aunty Nan (on Edward's side) in England, as some of you will know they are very much covered in snow, so she looks like to be having a snowy birthday. This is the inside of the card, this special lady has certainly lived, laughed and loved, we definately miss her, she reminds me so much of my very late nana.

Chirstmas Challenges - Red & Green

Hi all, this could be my final challenge for this year, though Allsorts new challenge is Purple, so do need to create an anniversary card for hubby so will try to squeeze that one in before our visitors arrive. Then we will be off camping down the Great Ocean Road. Anyway enough waffle, so had this idea in my head for Inky Impressions Challenge to use an ornament in your creation. I found this wonderful idea in my Magnolia Ink 1 magazine, many years ago they used icing sugar, egg white and a few drops of lemon to make their ornaments for the tree. A little solid for a snowflake but didn't think it would hold together with spaces and not too sure my piping skills are upto it lol!We (Rosanna (my not so little helper, same height as me and only 12 and I) decided to add some dazzling diamonds to add a little sparkle, struggled with this card trying to keep to Red and Green, but did just manage to sneek a little purple in there lol. The ribbon says Merry Christmas and the ornament can be removed from the card to hang on the tree.
The metallic cardstock is from my stash (from many years ago), have used 'So Jolly' Magnolia for the background available from Kellie's Magnolia Store.
These are the challenges I have entered:

Magnolia Down Under Challenges #27 - Christmas Decoration/Card

Stampin Sisters in Christ #15 - to have a gift on your card/creation

Snow Many Challenges

Hi all, try to make this brief, firstly I heat embossed the snowflake onto Elegant Eggplant cardstock, which was to create your own masterboard/paper. Then I coloured in Holly the Fairy a digital image from Mo's Digital Shop, so love this image! She is coloured using a mixture of copics and markers, her wings are a mixture of special effects and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, special effects has been used on the bells and holly in her hair and on her dress, I also paper toled the lace on her dress. I then hand stitched round the edges and added little metal bells and beads. Then used various ribbons etc., just so love the snowball ribbon and the purple edged ribbon has a gorgeous sequins edge, finishing with a metal snowflake. All the edges on the cardstock have been distressed and I sponged the edges of the cardstock that has Holly on. Took loads of pics but really struggled with the light. Will see if I can improve on it tomorrow.
